How to position email attachments in Outlook 2007?

Outlook attachments positions (Outlook 2007)

While attaching documents in Outlook, some attachments show up in the body of the message (depending on where the cursor is) and in some other cases, the attachment snuggily fits into a line right underneath the subject (this is my favorite).

Here is an illustration of attachments in the body:

Here is an illustration of attachments appearing in the line (text box) below the subject line:

It bothered for a long time why this happens. I prefer the second option to the first one as this seems to be more organized way of showing the attachments.

The deal is this -
1. Attachments are added to the body of the message in Outlook if the format of the message is set for “Rich Text”

2. Attachments are added below the subject line if the format of the message is either “Plain text” or “HTML”

You can see these options in Outlook 2007 as below –
Rich Text Option is chosen in this case -

HTML Option is chosen here –

Takeaway from the post

1. Ensure you have your Message Format under Options\Email Format is set to HTML (if you want to send rich content). This would enable all the messages you are originating to arrange the attachments under the subject line.

2. In some cases, you will reply to an email and attach something. And you will see the attachment right in the middle of your email or signature. Chill-this is not your fault. The originator of the email has set the format of the message to Rich Text and MS Outlook just preserves the format. To fix this, go to Options Ribbon while editing the message itself and choose either “Plain Text” or “HTML” for the attachemnt to align under the subject title

3. If you have Plain Text format for authoring new messages and replies, the attachments will automatically align under the subject (but you will loss the hi-fidelity of the MS Word editor)

Enjoy!

I am wondering how to get the old-style slanted-line shape fill in Powerpoint 2007. I want to get something like this in Powerpoint 2007. The gradient fills are too garish for representing simple intersection of circles and boxes.

Here is a representation
